prom dress

i REEEEEEAAAAAAALLY want to make my prom dress this year. i have a few ideas but i'm not totally decided yet.

I've had this idea for a while to make a big yellow ball gown Belle style! this is Simplicity 4269 and i think i would make the version in white, only in yellow.

I also really like the idea of doing a geisha inspired look with some japanese silk charmeuse and kanzashi flower hairpins. I like this dragon material but i wear red A LOT so i might want to switch it up. but i dunno, red's my color. As for the pattern:
Simplicity 4175. holla!

New Spring Patterns! part 5 (finale!) : Vogue

I have to say, I'm quite dissapointed by Vogue this spring. I'm usually salivating over everything in the collection but this time they had a really small collection and it wasn't as impressive overall as usual. But, of course, I did manage to find some gems.

2940 - I love the flowiness and springiness of this. I reminds me of one of the dresses from urban outfitters.

2946 - I really love the tank top with the large bow in the front. I'm not so sure about the one with the huge sleeves... it's a little Seinfeld "puffy shirt"

2947 - I like the blue one in the cornerrrrrrrrr. It's pretty.

8352- Okay when it comes to this one, I'm a fan of the two designs with puff sleeves, the other ones are hideous though.

I'm a little dissapointed, Vogue, but you still have a lot of nice patterns. So I'll forgive you.

New Spring Patterns! part 4: McCall's

Oh, McCall's. We have such a love-hate relationship. How I loathe your crappy pattern paper and completley screwed up sizing. How bland many of your clothing is. And yet every once in a while, you surprise me.

5315- okay this is pretty cute and basic. Probs a good dress for dances and stuff.

5317- the one w/o sleeves is totally boring but i really like it with sleeves

5340 -I really like the shape and size of those house-shaped purses. quite cute.

5375- finally a bubble MINIskirt. No. I do not want a bubble skirt down to my knees, or - even worse - mid calf.

okay McCall's you did pretty good... but get new pattern paper.

New Spring Patterns! part 3: Butterick

Can I just say one thing? I am in LOVE with Butterick's collection this year!

4973- Pretty basic baby doll dress. Definitely good for some jersey prints from http://eileensfabricsandcrafts.com or http://www.reprodepot.com

4974 - I'm definitely envisioning this in some Alexander Henry tattoo print fabric http://hartsfabric.stores.yahoo.net/9135.html

4975 - cute, simple, endless possibilities. Probs v. flattering too.

4976 - Why did I say I was over the kimono dress? I'm not.

4978 - again a simple choice but one that would be really flattering and comfortable, I only like the shorter one though

4984 - this could be really cute with jeans or leggings or nothing :o)

4988- I need more nice shirts and I think I found some cute ones.

4991- I love the jacket with sleeves. I'm envisioning it in some gorgeous brocade or jacquard like these: http://www.pearlriver.com/v2/sub_brocade.html

I salute you, Butterick.

New Spring Patterns! part 2: Simplicity

Simplicity is my favorite pattern company. This is mosty because they have the good kind of pattern paper that will actually fold back up and they sponsor the BuiltByWendy patterns which I love!!!! yay! this spring they had a bunch of cute ones so I just picked my favorites.

3885- I usually don't like the Jessica McClintock collection but with the right fabrics, I think this one could be really pretty.

3383- I really like this Mod 60s pattern a lot. I think the black and white one is really cute.

3828- I really like the mini messenger with burberry fabric and black trimming! it's cute.

YAY! A new BBW pattern! It's 3835. and i love the minidress with tie sleeves. I can't wait to try this one.

Okay I dunno if i'm over the whole kimono-y dress thing but I really like the black and white
version of 3875.

3882- ooooooooh! bubble dress! cute!

good show, Simplicity, good show.

New Spring Patterns! part 1: KwikSew

Okay so generally i dont really use Kwik Sew patterns, but once in a while they come out with some stuff I really like. So since new things came out. I decided to review them.

This is 3492 and i think view C is really cute. I especially like the buttons, although i'd probably lose the buttons.

This is 3490. I really like this style of cropped jacket. I think view B woul be really cute in mint green houndstooth.

I really like babydoll styles like this one (3461) I would probably make the longer version.

I also really like these tunics too (3496) especially the black one. I think they'd be good in some cute jersey prints.

KwikSew, I applaud you. Some cute choices this year.

what's next?

I'm hoping to start working on a few projects after my show is over and i have a little more time to dedicate to it. I'm also going to new york in a little more than a week so maybe i'll find some good fabric while there!

I'm going to make this Butterick wrap dress first. I'm making the black and white version. I've ordered some of this psychadelic fabric by Michael Miller from http://www.ladybuttonfabrics.com. It's going to be where the white is and i'm going to use a coordinating purple solid for the black part.

i'm also planning on making this Simplicity tunic from the Built By Wendy collection (which is amazing!!!)

this is the fabric i'm planning to use

Theres also a KwikSew pattern i'm thinking about and a purse thats been bouncing around in my head with some really gorgeous Alexander Henry pinup fabric.

I found this really great site with some supplies for making purses and i'm planning on getting some handles and some flexi spring frames for coin purses.

LAWNDREE BAG (fore kawluj!)

This idea has been bouncing around in my head since i visited CNU. They have fantastic dorms (just voted #1 in the country! holla!) but it's a hike down to the basement to do laundry. I wanted a big laundry bag.

I found this fabric on one of my favorite fabric sites: http://www.reprodepot.com

The bag! (in the laundry room of course!)

I added a pocket for quarters !

see?! quarters!

the strap (made of white webbing)

It's fully lined too! wOOt! some people on craftster said i should think about selling them but i'm not sure how to price them. I'll see if i can make them cheap enough to sell.

I sell these bags at the toy store where i work. They are made of faux fur and lined with felt. the mini messengers have black webbing for a strap and measure about 9x9" - 10x10". They sell for $25. The coin purses/wallets and gadget cozies are $10. The cozies are made to fit a video ipod or full size ipod.

kimono-y type top dress. a lot of patterns. this was really easy and it turned out really cute!
my gnome dress might be my favorite thing ever! its made with heather ross gnome fabric and simplicity 4119. it was inspired by my favorite movie, Amelie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0211915/
you can see the print better in this one

this is a "sexy wizard" costume i made for a sexy party that me and my friends threw. i made the dress, wand, and hat and i wore silver stilettos and these sparkly tights.
I made these two things for the "Ocean Friends" swap on http://www.craftster.org , an oline crafting community i belong to.
"octopurse" hahaha. i'm hilarious

i made these for the Daria swap f craftster. The purse has Jane on it and the bracelet had a bunch of the characters.
